The beginning of the film makes us “optimistic”. A policeman, burdened by hardships of life, methodically kills his wife, his own dog, and then kills himself. Then, in the next scene, the man in handcuffs fulfills his wife’s last request and kills her with his own hands.
And this is just the beginning. In subsequent shots, the number of corpses will increase and increase. Without any introduction or prelude, Olivier Marchal moves on to the main dish of the menu – the confrontation between police officers and criminals. But in no way between good and evil. Because in Marchals movies, cops are not ideal at all.
