Seems, that all this was supposed to happen in medieval Japan, but no.. This is the modern USA, and the movie characters and their behaviors seem to have nothing to do with the old Japanese rules. However, everything is different with Jim Jarmusch. For the most distinguished American director of modern times, time and place are conditional, only dignity and devotion make sense.
