George Clooney’s amazingly clever and interesting directorial findings in the screen adaptation of Chuck Barris’s memoirs. It’s hard to believe this is his debut film.
Chuck Barris was the author of numerous popular TV shows in 60s America. However, things did not always go well. In one of his financial crises, the Central Intelligence Agency offers him a job and he agrees. Barris undergoes special training, after which he is given various tasks, including the liquidation of people. From now on, he has two lives: the first – the creator of the rated TV shows and the second – the killer, who virtuously gets rid of people who are not desirable for the country.
Julia Roberts and Drew Barrymore agreed on a token sum of $250,000 to work on their friend’s film, who was forced to operate on a limited budget ($30 million). Brad Pitt and Matt Damon even agreed to play the episodic roles for free.
