It is difficult to find a person who has had such a long and successful career in the political arena. Italian Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti has been elected to the post seven times. His remarkable political career ended with him being accused of links to the Mafia in the early 1990s. The director implicitly refers to the era of state terror that the Italian government inflicted on its own citizens in the second half of the 20th century.
An excellent example of political satire from an excellent director. The film discusses moments of high-level corruption and links between members of the government and the mafia.
