A black-and-white film about a girl who lives in a surreal eastern country, rolls on a skateboard and drinks the blood of bad men at night.

The girl returns home late at night alone. She is not afraid. On the contrary, others are afraid of her.  She is a vampire. A vampire dressed in hijab who is out to take revenge on men addicted to drugs and sexism and who violate the monochrome “bad city” industrial presence by being here. However, even such a depraved, criminal city has its “James Dean”, whose meeting with the girl opens a romantic line in this story.

Ana Lily Amirpour’s film is a kind of echo, and in form resembles Rodriguez’s “Sin City”, while in character Jarmusch’s “Only Lovers Left Alive”, only with a pronounced radical feminism. The black-and-white and gloomy city described in the film is the director’s satire on her historic homeland-Iran, post-revolutionary Tehran.
