Mike Flanagan’s (The Haunting of Hill House; Doctor Sleep; Oculus) non-banal horror series that deals with important topics and, despite many dialogues, is tense and dangerous.
The plot of the series takes place on a small island of fishermen – Crockett, which seems to be experiencing its rough years. As a result of the environmental disaster, local production goes down, many people lose their jobs, some change their jobs and places of residence in search of better. Because the closed community of the island has little contact with the outside world, the central role in their lives is played by St. Patrick’s Church, which has a fairly large congregation.
In exchange for a local elder pastor who is being treated on the mainland for a serious illness, a young and energetic pastor-Paul arrives on the island. His fiery and eloquent speeches arouse the growing interest of the island’s population. With his preaching and prayers he also performs miracles, which fills his followers with amazing energy, but at the same time inexplicable and frightening events begin on the island …
