Adam lives in Auckland, California with his spouse. He receives a gift from his husband in the form of online Spanish language courses. His charming teacher, Cariño, lives in Costa Rica. Apart from the distance, there is also a social and economic difference between them, but this does not prevent them from becoming friends. The story of the film was conceived by Mark Duplass. At the time of Lockdown, he heard about the impoverishment of an English language school somewhere in Latin America, and in order to support them, he ordered Spanish language courses for schoolteachers, thus saving the school from bankruptcy, and the idea of a script was born.
